There is the piers called "Clan Jetty" on which Chinese descendants from Fujian live.
"Clan" of this Clan Jetties means a family name, and "Jetty" means the wharf and the pier.
Now, there are seven piers here, these piers are used by each whole families.
For example, this is Chew Jetty.
It is floating houses in the sea.
A Chinese decoration and an offering as same as usual.
There was also a general store.
However, it is floating in the sea.
There were many boats.
Are they still doing the fishing?
As you see, the houses stand on the sea surface.
The mail drops.
There is even a peti polis(= a small police).
The redevelopment project which reclaims land from this seashore and builds a skyscraper was raised in the Weld Quay.
Then, two piers were pulled down as the beginning in 2006.
However, by having authorized Georgetown as World Heritage in 2008, seven piers which remained would be specified as the part, and would be saved.
Of course, China temple is there too.
