Hôtel-Dieu de Paris

I found out the beautiful old building in the center of Île de la Cité.

When I went into inside so that it might be invited, i asked someone what it was.
Surprisingly, it was a hospital.

Because there was beautiful garden, I asked whether I was able to take a photo.
They said "No problem".

There is such a beautiful garden.

However, it is actually a hospital.

Does it have any special meaning as for the blue bronze statue?
