張一元茶庄 @ 大柵欄 (Dashila)

張一元茶庄 is a tea shop of 1908 foundation.

The shop which is fragrant with tea.

You can see the traditional technique of wrapping tea leaves in paper, which is seldom seen no longer now.

On the second floor.

There was a chunk of big 普洱茶(Pu-erh tea).

You can buy the teaware there.

Tea also, of course!

You can drink tea there.

北京同仁堂 @ 大柵欄 (Dashila)

北京同仁堂 is a long-established Chinese herbology store of 1669 foundation, the basis was the court purveyor's store.
Empress Dowager Cixi was especially a great fan of 北京同仁堂.

The lucky bamboo at the counter.

I bought some, cause I'm always a challenger.
This is royal jelly.
Though the package is too real, Chinese people say it is good for your health.

I also bought the honey bottles.

Wolfberry honey.

Loquat honey.

The label is nice!

There is a phrase which was often in fashion among Beijing people once.
“头戴马聚源，身穿瑞蚨祥，脚登内内聯昇・・・”
(The hat bought in "聚源" is worn, the dress ordered in "瑞蚨祥" is worn, and the shoes of "内聯昇" are worn...)
It was a kind of symbol of wealth.
"瑞蚨祥" is a clothes store of a long-established store of 1893 foundation.
Especially, 旗袍(the cheongsam) of the custom-made was famous.

The entrance in which history is felt.
In 1949, the national flag which waved to Tiananmen at the People's Republic of China founding of the country ceremony was made from the cloth of "瑞蚨祥".

There were the beautiful world in the store.
The first floor is a ready-made floor, the second floor is a custom-made floor.

大柵欄 (Dashila)

大柵欄(Dashila) is the old town which had a big fence as the name.
It is a byroad which turns to the west from Qianmen Street.

This is what is called a house of ill fame, and the liquor shop and bars which placed prostitutes were located in a line old days.
For keeping the peace, otherwise possibly it may be for the prevention from the escape of prostituts, it seems that the fence was shut at night.
Now, there is no image of those days.

Many tourists are just enjoying shopping these days.

My friend bought us 包子(Baozi=Chinese Bun).
狗不理 is a long-established restaurant of the bun speciality representing China in Tianjin in China.
Empress Dowager Cixi ate the 狗不理 bun which a government official brought her from Tianjin, and she admired the delicious.
After that, the restaurant won renown......
