祇園祭(Gion Matsuri) is a famous festival of
Yasaka Shrine in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto.
The things which remind of summer of Kyoto.
It is one of the Kyoto 3 major festivals (others are the
Aoi Festival of the Kamigamo shrine and Shimogamo Jinja, and
Jidai Festival of Heian Jingu).
Furthermore, it is counted by one of the three Japanese major festivals along with
Tenjin Festival of Osaka, and
Sanno Festival (or
Kanda Festival) of Tokyo.
It is a long festival performed over one month from July 1.
If you stay in Kyoto in July, you are so lucky.
